Nala laid down on a rock, enjoying the warmth of the sunlight. She looked at the land around her, smiling.

A beautiful young lioness entered towards the dry grass. The grass was long and matched the lioness' color almost perfectly so that she was not easily seen. Her large paws entered in the ground, leaving imprints of where she stepped. There was not much sound in the air. But you almost hear the heat, and every once in a while a small animal scurried through the blades.
Kiara continued to walk, her tounge out of her mouth trying to keep cool. She soon saw the shape of a large rock and another feline onto of it, basking. As she got closer she smiled. It was Nala, her mother. She reached the rock and sat down next to it, curling her long tail around her feet. "Hello."

Nala looked at her daughter. "Hello. I was wondering where you were." She smiled at her daughter. She could not believe how much her daughter was growing. She knew that someday Kiara would have her own cub. "So, how are you?" she asked.

"I was just wandering." She replied, her tones were casual as her mind wandered elsewhere. Back to where she had been and who she had seen. The thought made her smile. She shook her head gently and came back to reality. She looked up at Nala. "I am okay, how are you?" she asked.
The sun beat down unrelentlessly against her back, she could almost feel the rays get past her hair to her skin. She stood up and reached her front paws forward in a long stretch, then she sat once more. Deciding that she didn't want to lay down.

"I've been doing fine." Nala's ears twitched. It seemed as though there was no one else nearby. Nala's tail twitched back and forth as she stared out across the land. She rested her head on her paws. After a moment she raised her head. She felt content laying there on the rock.

Kiara smiled. "Have you seen Dad? I haven't seen him lately." She was trying to make conversation but there wasn't much to talk about on this lazy afternoon. She jumped up onto the rock in a graceful bound. There was not enough room for too and she started to nuzzle her mother.

Nala nuzzled Kiara, then sat up on the rock. She figured that if she sat instead of stretching her body across the rock, there would be more room for both her and Kiara. "No, I haven't seen him lately."

She smiled and licked her mother gently. Looking out at the horizon, she enjoyed the scene before. Plains stretching to endless miles. Golden blades of grass, and a few desert trees here and there.

Nala looked out at the plains. She spotted the dark area of land far out into the distance. She knew what dangers lie there. She recalled the moment when Simba had taken her there when they were only cubs and they ran into the hyenas. She growled when she thought of that moment.

Kiara looked at her mother. "What are you thinking about?"

Nala looked at Kiara and replied, "Those dark lands over there... don't ever go there. It's very dangerous. It's not full of the friendliest animals. I've been there, and I rather not go there ever again."

Kiara shrugged, "I can really take care of myself, but I will do as you say." She was silent after that.

Nala looked back at the Out Lands, the back at Kiara. She licked Kiara. "I just want you to be safe."

Kiara smiled. "I know." She looked at Nala. "Thanks!" She licked her then gently jumped off of the rock. "I think I'll go wander for a while, see you later." With that she took off and was soon out of sight.

"See you later!" Nala called as she watched Kiara leave. She watched a few birds fly nearby. She laid her head on her front paws and rested.
